Kumara Parvatha
Kumara Parvatha is one of the toughest and most rewarding treks in Karnataka. It rises to about 1,712 m inside the Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary on the border of Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu. The trail starts at the temple town of Kukke Subramanya. It climbs through dense Western Ghats rainforest, then opens onto vast grasslands and rocky ridges, passing Bhattara Mane, Kallu Mantapa, and Shesha Parvatha before reaching the summit. The route covers roughly 13–14 km each way with a steep, sustained elevation gain, so most trekkers split it over two days and camp near the forest checkpost. From the top, you get sweeping views of the Sahyadri ranges, deep valleys, and seas of clouds at sunrise. It’s best suited to fit, experienced trekkers looking for a real challenge in the Western Ghats.
